Professor Gangbing Song visits and presents research on structural vibration control

On 15 July 2018, Professor Gangbing Song of the University of Houston visited by invitation and delivered a presentation entitled “Vibration control using a single-sided tuned mass damper under earthquake excitation”. The visit also included discussions on vibration control using dampers.

Professor Gangbing Song has long conducted research on smart materials and structures, structural vibration control and structural health monitoring. Drawing on his research, the presentation explained the control mechanisms and engineering applications of pounding tuned mass dampers.

The Chinese title of the lecture translates as “Vibration control using a single-sided tuned mass damper under earthquake excitation”. The event also included discussions on vibration control using dampers.
