Professor Gangbing Song visits and presents research on structural connection monitoring

On 21 June 2023, Professor Gangbing Song of the University of Houston, delivered an invited lecture entitled “The Recent Development in Structural Connection Monitoring and Inspection”.

Using examples involving bolted connections, pipeline inspection and monitoring, and interfacial bonding in composites and aluminum alloy plates, the presentation discussed applications of piezoceramic and bio-inspired sensing to monitoring connection tightness and detecting damage.

Faculty, postgraduate students and external colleagues attended the event. The presentation was followed by discussions on monitoring methods and engineering applications.

The English title of the presentation was “The Recent Development in Structural Connection Monitoring and Inspection”.
