Professor Dixiong Yang visits and presents the direct probability integral method

The presentation introduced the direct probability integral method from the perspective of stochastic integration and explained its unified approach to stochastic structural analysis, stochastic dynamics and reliability-based design.

The presentation noted that conventional methods often address stochastic structural analysis, random vibration and reliability assessment separately. By establishing a probability-density integral equation in the time–space domain, the direct probability integral method decouples the structural governing equations from the probability-density calculations.

The framework can be used for static and dynamic stochastic response analysis, dynamic reliability assessment and reliability-based optimization, and can be readily integrated into engineering simulation software.
